While defining the role of a Product Manager, we said, the Product Manager is responsible for
1. Buiding Features in the product that meet the expectations of existing customers
2. Building Features in the product that excite new/potential customers.
So it is easy to say that the Product Manager is responsible for building the product.
But this is not the only area.
The Product being built has to be sold.
And after the product has been sold, it has to be ensured that the customer is able to derive the value from the Product.
And the Product Manager plays a role in Sales and in Post Sales support.
To summarize, the key responsibility areas of a Product Manager are
Directly responsible for this
Support the sales and Pre-sales team
Supports the Delivery teams
Supports the Support (L2/L3/L4) teams
Supports the Operations/Managed Services team
4. Product Marketing
5. Product Support
6. Product Strategy
